It’s a question we get asked on a weekly basis at Cocoon Vehicles, will my Golf Clubs fit in the back of a particular car. Whilst I’m not a Golfer, we do hold a set of clubs at our Belper branch so that we can try make sure various cars will swallow them up.

I thought it would be a great idea to list the top 9 cars that not only look good at the Golf Club, but will accept a set of Golf Clubs.

9. Volvo XC60 — With its huge boot and great looks, this Volvo will not disappoint on space, comfort and economy if required. You can also opt for the T8 Hybrid version, great especially if you are a company car driver.

8. Audi A6 Saloon or Avant — Another car that can easily swallow a set of Golf Clubs in the back, whilst its everyday driving capability makes journeys a real breeze.

7. BMW 5 series Saloon or Tourer — Massive boot space again from this BMW staple car. Great recent revision gives a few more on board gadgets including Apple CarPlay so you can easily ask Siri where the nearest Golf Course is. Also comes in a Plugin Hybrid version (530e)

6. Mercedes C Class Cabriolet — Yep I know I’ll get some grief for this option, but there is no rule about having the roof down and having your best Ping golf clubs on the back seats!

5. Volkswagen Golf R — For those who like to make a noisy entrance and don’t mind using the split folding seats, the Golf R is not only a fun car to drive but very fast. Give the accelerate a tap as you’re driving through the grounds.

4. BMW X4 — This recently face-lifted model looks fantastic front to back and has plenty of internal room for those clubs. It can also easily seat 4 adults, but mind your head on the way in.

3. Volvo XC90 — Another Volvo star, the XC90 offers 7 seats and plenty of room internally. Infotainment system is fantastic and its so comfortable. Go for a higher spec to get things like head up display and heated steering wheel.

2. Mercedes GLC SUV — Whilst the boot isn’t the biggest, it will still hold a set of clubs diagonally and multiple with a really easy accessible folding seat. Due a facelift really soon, but nothing to complain about on the current version.

The Winner. Tesla Model 3 RHD — Ok so this has only just been launched in the UK, but I have seen plenty of these in America. There is plenty of space in the boot and you also have additional storage space under the bonnet as there is no engine. Read my recent article about the 3 things I’d like to see on the RHD Tesla Model 3.

As you can see from the above list, I have veered away from Estates where I can, plenty of our customers don’t want to drive them. But there really isn’t anything wrong about driving one and some of the latest models of the BMW 3 series and Mercedes C and E class are superb.

Do you think I’ve missed any cars out below? Do you think I’ve made the right choices. Drop me a message below and I will come back to you.
